The introductory paragraph in his web site goes like this ...
Just off the equator, near the southern tip of India lies the gorgeous tear-shaped island of Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, an almost duplicate of Kerala in scenery. They part ways in terms of the culture, language, and types of music. Baila is infectious Sri Lankan music with a decidedly Portuguese twist, which I have loved ever since I first heard it on the venerable Radio Ceylon. I have always loved the splendid Duran Duran music videos, "Save A Prayer" and "Hungry Like The Wolf" filmed there, and it has come as no surprise that it is the home of the great luminary, Sir Arthur C. Clarke. But, the limited exposure I have had to Sri Lanka was from reading about it. I have neither visited it nor do I understand a word they're saying, but nevertheless, I can't get enough of the music and rhythm!! I hope you will share the same affection I have for this fabulous music. And I hope and pray that one day, this island will return to the peaceful, idyllic, sleepy, magical corner of paradise it used to be, and should be. But in the meantime, let me divert your attention away from the seriousness of the situation. Be an escapist and join me in digging melodious Baila music - music with an attitude and beat! As the Beach Boys say, it will make you wanna "Dance, Dance, Dance"!
